Due to New Zealand's location, it is susceptible to frequent extreme natural disasters, including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and weather related disasters. Specifically to Wellington, earthquakes and tsunamis can occur at any time a pose a real risk to society of Wellington.

Students are less prepared for natural disasters than the rest of the New Zealand population. This website is built with the purpose of educating Victoria University students how to prepare and respond to a natural disaster crisis, specifically focusing on earthquakes and tsunamis.
